Game developer Wargaming and action film star Jason Statham are partnering for the World of Tanks Holiday Ops 2025 event. Ushering in the festivities is a live-action trailer featuring the actor.

The World of Tanks Holiday Ops 2025 event begins December 6, 2024, and ends January 13, 2025, for all available platforms. During that period, players can enjoy the new festive players, which can be seen below. It is here where tankers can grab special assignments and battle missions to earn rewards from Jason Statham.

“I have driven almost every type of vehicle in my career, but blasting around in a tank is the most exhilarating,” says Jason Statham. “That is why I’ve teamed up with Wargaming to be World of Tanks’ newest Holiday Ops Ambassador, and I’m more than up for the challenge. It’s a great opportunity to bring some festive fun and a bit of high-stakes action to players all over the world.”

Jason Statham began his movie career in the 1998 Guy Ritchie film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. He really cemented himself as an action star in the film The Transporter, which received its final installment in 2008. The other role he is probably most known for is Deckard Shaw from the Fast and Furious series. His latest film was 2024’s The Beekeeper.

This is not the first time the actor has played a role in a video game. Back in 2002, he voiced Mandril Shrike in Red Faction 2. In the very first Call of Duty which released in 2003, he voiced Sergeant Waters. He wouldn’t play another “major” role in a game until the 2015 mobile game Sniper X with Jason Statham.

This is also not the first time Wargaming has partnered with an actor for its World of Tanks Holiday Ops event. Last year, Vinnie Jones appeared in the game. Jones has worked with Statham on several films, including the aforementioned Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, as well as Snatch.

King Features and Art of Play have announced The Phantom video game adaptation is available to preorder today. Also revealed were the two different editions available on the developer’s shop and a new trailer.

The physical “Mega Phan Pack” has seven alternate covers from different artists including Sy Barry, Sal Velluto, Glenn Ford, Luca Erbetta, Anthony Spay, and Alex Trpcevski. Collectors can grab the “Mega Collect All Phan Pack,” which includes all seven boxes and prints for $110. This is available only for the Nintendo Switch and PS5 versions and is limited to 25 per platform.

The Phantom video game is an arcade-style beat ’em up starring the titular character and his partner Diana Palmer. Players will travel across 15 levels to fight the Singh Brotherhood. It features an original canonical storyline created by Art of Play (approved by King Features) and art by Anthony Spay.

Survios announced Robbie Daymond will voice Davis 01 in the upcoming VR game Alien: Rogue Incursion. The actor is known for their roles in Critical Role, Hi-Fi Rush, and Spider-Man.

In Alien: Rogue Incursion, Davis 01 is the AI companion to the game’s protagonist Zula Hendricks (voiced by Andia Winslow). The duo travel to LV-354 (a.k.a. Purdan) to meet with Hendricks; former squadmate Ben Carver. However, as they approach the research facility Castor’s Cradle, they discover something terribly wrong has happened.

As the two explore the facility, Davis 01 essentially acts as Hendricks’ conscience as the mission becomes her obsession. The game explores this relationship between the human and AI, which is somewhat of a staple for the beloved franchise.

“As Zula’s companion, Daymond’s performance spotlights the strong relationship between Davis 01 and Zula, a bond that is closer than just squad mates. Expertly capturing the AI’s grapples with sentience and motivations, players will discover the hidden mysteries through the immersive storytelling experience.”

Robbie Daymond is an actor who has voiced in several video games. Besides the aforementioned, their recently featured credits also feature Slitterhead, Sonic X Shadow Generations, and Helldivers 2. Alien: Rogue Incursion launches on PS VR2 and PCVR via Steam on December 19, 2024. It will release on Meta Quest 3 early next year. The Standard Edition costs $39.99, while the Deluxe Edition costs $49.99.

Despite the odds, GSC Game World released its highly anticipated post-apocalyptic shooter Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl last week. Its launch may have been plagued with bugs, but that did not stop fans from grabbing the game as it passes a major sales milestone just a week after its release.

Stalker 2 sales reaches 1 million units sold

From the official Stalker X (formerly Twitter) account, GSC Game world announced Stalker 2 sales reached 1 million copies sold. This number seems to not include Game Pass users as stated in the post.

“No wonder it feels a bit crowdy in the Zone,” says the post. “A million copies were sold, and much more stalkers joined the artifact hunt with Game Pass.”

“This is just the start of our unforgettable adventure,” continues the post. “The Heart of Chornobyl emanates stronger with each of us.”

It really is the start of an unforgettable adventure as the developer recently issued a statement saying they will continue to update Stalker 2. This is a response to feedback about the game’s glaring technical issues. The company stated they are working on hotfixes, and rolling them out as precisely and frequently as possible.

“Nevertheless, Stalker 2 is a massive game. We understand that in such a game, there may still be rough edges; we literally haven’t released anything of this scale before,” says the statement. “We’re absolutely committed to being here, monitoring your feedback, and quickly fixing any issues that need our attention. In the first days after release, we’ll be working on hotfixes, rolling them out a precisely as possible, but as frequently as we can. Then, we’ll switch to larger updates that include constant improvements.”

The developer also confirms there will be free in-game content. They plan to share the Stalker 2 roadmap in December.

Xbox has announced the rest of November’s Game Pass slate. From flight sims to post-apocalyptic shooters, there is something for every Xbox player to enjoy. This also includes a recent Aliens game that was lauded by critics and gamers.

Aliens: Dark Descent coming to Xbox Game Pass at the end of November

Developed by Tindalos Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment, Aliens: Dark Descent comes to Xbox Game Pass on November 27, 2024. It will be available for Cloud, Console, and PC via Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, or Game Pass Standard. For those unaware, the game is a real-time tactics game based in the Alien universe. Players command a squad of Colonial Marines to fight the iconic Xenomorphs.

“In Aliens: Dark Descent, command a squad of hardened Colonial Marines to stop a terrifying Xenomorph outbreak on Moon Lethe,” reads the game’s description. “Lead your soldiers in real-time combat against iconic Xenomorphs, rogue operatives from the insatiable Weyland-Yutani Corporation, and a host of horrifying creatures new to the Alien franchise.”

Video games based on the Alien franchise are pretty hit or miss, but Aliens: Dark Descent did receive favorable reviews when it launched in 2023. On Metacritic, it received a 75 Metascore and an 8.1 user score. Steam users seem to think highly of the game as well, as it currently sits at “Very Positive” with its reviews on the digital PC storefront Steam. Any fan of the sci-fi series may want to check this one out if they subscribe to Xbox’s game service.

There are some other solid additions coming to Xbox Game Pass for the rest of the month. Today, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is available on Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S via Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. Survios revealed the story trailer for its upcoming VR shooter, Alien: Rogue Incursion. The developers also discussed the new trailer and its “classic three-act” structure.

Alien: Rogue Incursion devs discuss its story

In a PlayStation Blog post, Survios Chief Product Office TQ Jefferson breaks down the Alien: Rogue Incursion story trailer, giving some insight into the tale they are telling within the beloved Alien universe. This includes their decision to have their protagonist Zula enter an already overrun research facility.

“One of our early creative decisions was that whatever happened on Purdan had already happened,” says Jefferson. “Zula is stepping into the aftermath of some event that has left Castor’s Cradle – the research facility – infested with horrifying Xenomorphs. Picking up the story after the facility has been compromised allows us to jump right into the suspense and action.”

As seen in the trailer above, Alien: Rogue Incursion stars Zula Hendricks, and Davis One, as they travel to LV-354 (a.k.a. Purdan) to meet up with Zula’s former squad mate, Ben Carver. As they enter Castor’s Cradle, they end up crash landing at the research facility. Jefferson considers this “Act One” of the trailer.

“Act Two” begins to focus on the events that led to the research facility’s downfall.

“Act Two of our story trailer focuses on revealing those events and showcasing the ‘Dawning Horror.’ We see inside the facility and hear the voices of the people who work there,” says Jefferson. “We weave in classic Alien themes like corporate corruption, personal greed, and professional hubris, all of which create a perfect storm of conditions for a Xenomorph outbreak. Hearing this dialog over the imagery of destruction, smoke, fire, and blood, we know the facility has already fallen.”

Lastly, the trailer’s “Third Act” focuses on Zula’s fight with the Xenomorphs as she discovers what is happening at the facility. This includes the experiments Gemini Exoplanet Solutions were conducting on the “perfect organism.”

Alien: Rogue Incursion launches on December 19, 2024, for PS VR2 and Steam. It will then release for Meta Quest 3 sometime early next year. The Standard Edition costs $39.99, while the Deluxe Edition costs $49.99.

Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox have announced the upcoming fantasy RPG Avowed launches for Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 18, 2025. They also revealed the Premium Edition, accessibility options, PC minimum requirements, and preorder details.

Avowed Premium Edition grants early access

There are three different editions for Avowed. The Standard Edition and Premium Edition can be purchased digitally. The latter is also available physically at a slightly higher price. The “This Is an Xbox” campaign has turned some heads recently. With the gaming company continuing to push accessibility rather than hardware, it raises the question: Are the console wars finally over? Whether it is or isn’t, that isn’t stopping the green brand from still making consoles, as well as “other devices.”

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer discussed the future of the company as its recent ad campaign launched. “This Is an Xbox” alludes to the idea that gamers can enjoy their Xbox games anywhere at any time. Consoles, smart TVs, phones, and other devices are all part of that ecosystem. With the emphasis now on accessibility with cloud streaming and services like Game Pass, is the company thinking about cutting consoles out entirely? As of now, Spencer confirms that is not the case.

“We’ll definitely do more consoles in the future, and other devices,” says Spencer.

Although it wasn’t expanded on, the “other devices” mentioned probably include the now confirmed Xbox handheld. In an recent interview with Bloomberg, Spencer said Xbox is currently working on prototypes but is far from releasing such a product at the moment.

Although Xbox plans to continue selling hardware, it isn’t the facet of its business that is helping it grow. Spencer considers PC, cloud streaming, and game availability to be key to the company’s growth.

“Our biggest growth in Xbox players is on PC and cloud,” he said. “The console space all up isn’t growing, across all of them. We love those customers, but in terms of continuing to expand and grow Xbox, it’s about PC, it’s about cloud, ad it’s about making our games more available in more places.”

Sony just released the PS5 Pro, a mid-generation refresh of its current console hardware with several improvements to its basic counterpart. With the direction Xbox is heading, a mid-gen refresh doesn’t seem to be the priority. Spencer doesn’t confirm it but does say they don’t need to do incremental hardware.

“We think about hardware that can create unique value for our players or creators on our platform,” he said. “We don’t need to do incremental hardware for our own benefit. Does a new device really give you a unique experience on screen in some way? [It’s] less like the old days, going from the original Xbox to 360; that was standard definition to high definition. Now, [it’s] harder to show the benefits.”

NetherRealm Studios revealed the Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay trailer for its iconic guest character Ghostface. The killer from the popular Scream franchise seems to be making a bloody brilliant debut in the long-running fighting game series thanks to the fun references the developers implemented. This includes a very meta fatality that horror fans should find pretty hilarious.

At the end of the gameplay trailer, which can be viewed below, Ghostface begins to brutally stab the other player (in this case, Sub-Zero). The camera begins to zoom out with the fatality now playing on a living room TV. As the camera pulls back further, a set of hands and a controller are shown furiously mashing buttons. This is revealed to be Johnny Cage losing to the murderer in Mortal Kombat 1. As he angrily throws his controller, he remarks that he’s just “a dude with a knife.” Ghostface then appears behind him, stabbing him through the chest, with blood splattering across the television set.

Scream is specifically known and beloved because of its meta-commentary on the horror movie genre. This fatality definitely fits that bill. It’s also somewhat of a fun reference to the opening of Scream 2. Also aiding in this interpretation’s authenticity is the voice acting by Roger L. Jackson, the voice from the films.

Ghostface’s gameplay itself is filled with references from the Scream films. This includes their signature hunting knife and their ability to phone in another Ghostface to help finish off the opponent.

Ghostface will be added to the Mortal Kombat 1 roster on November 19, 2024, for owners of the Khaos Reigns expansion. The character will be available to everyone on November 26, 2024. The DLC is available now for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Players not sure if they want to commit to purchasing the multiplayer shooter can check out the trailer below.

The PS5 version of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has some special features exclusive to the console platform. This includes DualSense haptic feedback, and PS5 Pro enhancements. Here are the PS5 features according to Fatshark:

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide originally launched for PC back in late 2022. It was eventually brought to Xbox Series X|S last October. The multiplayer first person shooter is a spiritual successor to Warhammer: Vermintide, a wave-based multiplayer player shooter where players can choose between several classes. As the name suggests, it is based in the world of the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game.

This news comes on the launch day of the PS5 Pro. Sony’s current gen console refresh features new hardware that improves the overall gameplay experience. Featuring a larger GPU, advanced ray tracing capabilities, and its AI upsampling technology PSSR, the console attempts to bring both high resolution pictures with faster frame rates.

WB Games confirms Hogwarts Legacy 2 is currently in development. The team behind the 2023 best seller will coordinate some of its storylines with the upcoming HBO Harry Potter show.

What was said about Hogwarts Legacy 2?

Variety recently spoke with WB Games President David Haddad about the success of Hogwarts Legacy, and its future. Due to its success in creating an authentic experience for the deep Harry Potter fanbase, Hogwarts Legacy 2 is a “very big priority” for the company.

“We have known for some time that fans are looking for more things in this world, and so we’re spending a lot of time thinking about that,” says Haddad. “Our insights tell us that there are not huge distinctions between a younger version of a fan and an older version of a fan. They’re just deep Harry Potter fans, and we try to build authentic experiences to delight them.”

Haddad also confirmed that the upcoming HBO Harry Potter show will incorporated into Hogwarts Legacy 2. How exactly those two things will directly connect is unknown. If Hogwarts Legacy is a direct sequel, it would be set in the late 1800s/ early 1900s. The show is adapting the original story, which is set in the 1990s. While the time periods don’t match up, characters in the series can live ridiculously long lives. It wouldn’t be too uncharacteristic for a character to show up in both products. Hogwarts Legacy included ancestors of some beloved characters too, so they could always go that route to connect the two as well.

Not only did Hogwarts Legacy’s success help prioritize the sequel’s development, it also marked the wider company’s interest in pushing more Harry Potter content.

“The rest of the company was very curious about what we helped to unlock with ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ last year,” says Haddad.

Series creator J.K. Rowling is not involved in Hogwarts Legacy 2, or managing the wider franchise for that matter. However, Warner Bros. does update her through her literary agent. These updates seem to come when WB wants to get a bit more creative with the franchise.

“If we’re going to ever go beyond a canon conversation, we make sure that we’re all comfortable with what we’re doing,” says Warner Bros. Discovery’s head of global consumer products Robert Oberschelp.

Specifics on a Hogwarts Legacy 2 release window and platforms is still unknown. However, the possibility of Hogwarts Legacy 2 be a live service game was discussed earlier this year.

Halo 2 is arguably one of the most beloved first person shooters of all time. I’s considered one of the truly great Xbox games that helped propel the Master Chief into a gaming household name. The hype for the shooter began with a E3 demo from 2003, which saw the Covenant attack Earth. Thought to be lost forever, that demo will now be playable in Halo: The Master Chief Collection to celebrate 20 years of the popular sequel.

Halo Studios and modding community collaborate to revive the lost E3 demo

In a post from Xbox Wire, it was announced the lost E3 2003 Halo 2 demo will be playable as a free mod for Halo: The Master Chief Collection via Steam. Featuring content cut from the final release, it will be made available on the Steam Workshop on November 9, 2024. It has not been confirmed if the demo will make its way to consoles eventually.

The demo’s revival is credited to Digsite, a team within Halo Studios tasked with restoring cut content, and the wider modding community. The collaborative effort allowed those involved recover the original assets and files of the demo, and restore it to recreate the demo. The team did encounter several issues and obstacles on the road to revival, but eventually were able to successfully get the scenario up and running.

“This put us in a bit of a quandary,” Halo Senior Franchise writer Kenneth Peters tells us. “Even the original executable is difficult to work with, as you need an Xbox developer kit to get it to boot, which is in increasingly short supply even within the studio. But now, in 2024, we have the Digsite-developed tools to analyze and automate up-porting old assets, and the unearthed knowledge to know why Bungie built things the way they did in the demo.”

In addition to the demo, Halo Infinite celebrates Halo 2’s 20th anniversary by releasing a set of multiplayer maps from the original game. Recreated in Forge by “key Halo Community members,” seven maps are making a comeback. Here is the full list with both their original and updated names:

• Ascension
• Boulevard (Turf)
• Canopy (Lockout)
• Conjurer (Warlock)
• Inquisitor (Midship)
• Serenity (Sanctuary)
• Beaver Canyon (Beaver Creek)

The maps will be featured in the Halo Infinite Delta Arena Playlist which changes some gameplay settings to recreate the feel of Halo 2. This means spring and clamber are disabled, and 120% jump height and friendly player collision are enabled.

“While utilizing custom game settings to recreate Halo 2’s movement is relatively easy, capturing that classic ‘feel’ was a bit harder to nail down,” says Halo Infinite Designer Evan Colson. “Considering all the subtle difference between Halo Infinite and Halo 2, a 1:1 recreation was never quite in the cards, but what we did come to was that of an amalgamation between the two, with settings that move like legacy Halo, but plays with elements of the modern sandbox.”

Players can enjoy the restored maps in Halo Infinite on November 5, 2024.

Retro platformer Snow Bros. is set to make its triumphant return very soon. The latest trailer for Snow Bros. Wonderland showcases multiplayer gameplay, and gives retro fans the date they’ve all been waiting for.

When does Snow Bros. Wonderland release?

Snow Bros. Wonderland launches for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on November 28, 2024. It has been nearly three decades since a new entry release. Its last game was 1994’s Snow Bros. 2: With New Elves.

“For nearly 30 long years, the lovable Snow Bros. Nick and Tom have been held on ice, waiting to star in a brand-new adventure, and now finally, the kings of cold have their wish granted, with an all-new sequel that reimagines the world of Snow Bros. for up to four players,” says the press release.

As seen in the trailer above, the new iteration of Snow Bros. features an isometric view rather than the typical 2D side scrolling of the past. Up to four players can team up to save Snow Land from the Great King of Evil with couch co-op multiplayer.

“Snow Bros. Wonderland sees our heroes thrust into a new adventure as they’re tasked with defending Snow Land from The Great King of Evil,” says an official description of the game. “Defeating such a foe is snow joke, but have no fear, Snow Bros. Wonderland invites you to bring up to three additional buddies to the party for a four-player, cool-couch-co-op experience that’s certain to make those long winter nights that bit more manageable.”

Limited Run Games partnered with Clear River Games to release physical editions of Snow Bros. Wonderland. Players can begin ordering their boxed copy on November 5, 2028.

Both available for Nintendo Switch, and PS5, the physical Snow Bros. Wonderland Standard Edition will cost $39.99. The Collector’s Edition costs $79.99, and includes the game, art book, the box, snow globe, and soundtrack.

Digital Eclipse announced the release date and pricing for its upcoming retro beat ’em up Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind. Those who want to preorder on PlayStation and Steam get a bit of a discount for the upcoming game.

When is the Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind release date?

Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind launches on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on December 10, 2024. It will cost $34.99 for all platforms. Preorders are currently available for PlayStation platforms and Steam users. Xbox and Nintendo Switch preorders are coming soon.

PlayStation Plus subscribers and Steam users get a bit of a discount for preordering the retro-style game. Those who want to secure their digital copy can get a 15% discount. It is not yet confirmed if this discount extends to Xbox and Nintendo Switch players. A new trailer shows fans what they can expect from Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind.

“Inspired by the classics of the genre and developed by Digital Eclipse, the team behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection, Atari 50th Anniversary Celebration, Rita’s Rewind puts a time travel twist on the classic Power Rangers journey along with a high-energy soundtrack scored by Sean Bialo to keep the adventure pumping,” reads the game’s description. “Battle against Robo Rita’s army of Putty Patrollers, General Goldar, and many other iconic bosses from across the series, all in couch co-op or online co-op with friends.”

Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind was first revealed in June during Summer Game Fest. It is a celebration of the popular franchise’s 30th anniversary in gaming. During National Power Rangers Day, Digital Eclipse revealed the fan-favorite character Tommy Oliver (a.k.a. the Green Ranger) would be an unlockable playable character.

This is not the only video gaming foray the Power Rangers are featured in this year. The franchise came to Ark: Survival Ascended back in June.

When is the Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition release date?

The Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition release date is March 20, 2025. This new version of the Monolith Soft RPG features enhanced visuals and added story elements. Check it out in action in the trailer below.

The enhanced Monolith Soft RPG is available to preorder right now on Nintendo’s digital storefront. Players can use Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers to redeem the game. Otherwise, it’ll cost $59.99.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is one of many Wii U games that are available for the Nintendo Switch. Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, and much more have been ported to the hybrid portable console. Super Mario World 3D is one of the console’s newest ports, which also includes the Bowser’s Fury story mode. Star Fox Zero is now one of the only first-party Wii U games that has yet to make the jump to the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo announced Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete, a paid version of its mobile game based on the popular cozy life simulator. It will launch for Android and iOS devices on December 2, 2024.

When is the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete release date?

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete allows players to play the mobile game after service ends on November 28, 2024, at 7 a.m. PT. Starting at $9.99, this new version will have no in-app purchases, and will not require a continuous online connection. That price goes up to $19.99 on January 30, 2025, at 10 p.m. PT. The one time purchase includes access to the game’s majority of items and events that have been present for its seven year run.

Players can transfer their current game progress to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete. All they have to do is link their current Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp save data to their Nintendo Account by June 1, 2025, at 11 p.m. PT.

There are a couple features new to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete. The paid version introduces Camper Cards, customizable in-game cards players can create and trade via QR Code. These cards include information about the player like their personal favorite animal pal. An new location called Whistle Pass allows players to invite friends to partake in activities together. Other new additional content like fishing tournaments, scavenger hunts, and garden events will also be included.

“Since the app launched in 2017, the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp community has been building cozy, creative campsites and forging strong connections with their animal pals,” says the game’s description. “As the campsite manager, players are tasked with building fun and engaging campsites loaded with cozy tents, relaxing swings and even merry-go-rounds. Nightdive Studios revealed its latest trailer for The Thing: Remastered during DreadXP’s Indie Horror Showcase. Modernizing the 2002 cult classic game, the newest look showcases its enhanced survival horror gameplay.

The Thing: Remastered still slated for release this year

The new The Thing: Remastered trailer features some of the improvements Nightdive Studios made to the upgraded classic. This includes its upgraded character models, improved lighting, and increased resolution. Check out the trailer below.

The Thing: Remastered continues the story of the 1982 horror film by John Carpenter (Halloween, Escape From New York). Players will play as U.S. Army Special Forces Captain J.F. Blake as they are sent out to rescue the team at the U.S. Outpost #31 research facility. They will command up to four NPCs as they go through 11 levels.

The Thing: Remastered will feature up to 4K resolution at 120 frames per second. However, players will need a compatible display and console or PC to actually reach those specs. Trophies and achievements are also available for players to earn.

“Nightdive Studios has upgraded this horrifying classic for the modern era through its proprietary KEX Engine for play on current-generation gaming devices up to a 4K resolution at 120FPS,” reads a statement from Nightdive Studios. “Improvements to character models, textures, and animations have been hand-crafted by Nightdive Studios, with the implementation of advanced 3D rendering for updated lighting and atmospheric effects — for a suspenseful and disgustingly detailed remaster that reanimates the thrilling game for modern audiences.”

“In the frozen arctic tundra, a mysterious shape-shifting alien has wiped out the crew of the U.S. Outpost #31 research facility. In The Thing: Remastered, players step into the boots of Captain J.F. Blake, the leader of a United States Army Special Forces rescue team sent to investigate the blood-curdling events that transpired in the original The Thing film,” reads the game’s description. “Trapped by the elements and at risk of infection by a horrific entity, Blake must keep his squad together to survive by gaining their trust and ensuring that their fear and paranoia don’t get the best of them… or himself.”

The Thing: Remastered will launch later this year for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. A specific release date has yet to be revealed.

Xbox announced a new refresh for its existing Xbox Wireless Headset. While this will replace the current model, it features several new improvements that enhance a player’s gaming experience.

The new Xbox Wireless Headset includes the same features of its predecessor, as well as four key enhancements made to improve the overall headset experience.

Its most notable feature is its built-in support for Dolby Atmos, Windows Sonic, and DTS Headphone:X. At no additional cost, players can experience the immersive spatial audio technology of Dolby Atmos. The Xbox Wireless Headset also features an improved battery life, with up to 20 hours of playtime. An upgraded microphone is implemented with auto-mute, and voice isolation features. The headset also gets a new redesign meant to complement any gaming set up.

The Xbox Wireless Headset has other features including an extendable mic boom, Bluetooth 5.3 support, and on-ear controls. Players can fine tune their headset preferences with the Xbox Accessories app. Anyone interested in the full tech specs can check them out here.

Konami announced it is making an action RPG based on Hiro Mashima‘s popular manga turned-anime, Edens Zero. It will be available to play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

When does the Edens Zero video game release?

A specific date for Edens Zero has not yet been announced, however, Konami gave a broad 2025 window. Players can expect to play the action RPG sometime next year for most modern platforms (sorry, Nintendo Switch). It is currently available to wishlist on digital storefronts. Preorder information will be revealed at a later date.

“In Edens Zero, tap into a character’s innate power and wield it through Ether Gear, as you relive key moments from the original story while making your own,” reads the official description.

Along with playing through the anime’s most known moments, players will play as several characters. As seen in the trailer above, this includes Shiki, Rebecca, Weisz, and Homura, as well as other beloved characters. The trailer also showcases its anime-inspired visuals and gameplay.

Edens Zero began in 2018 as a sci-fi manga written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima, the creator of Rave Master and the incredibly popular Fairy Tail series. In 2021, Fairy Tale was adapted into an anime helmed by Shinji Ishihira and written by Mutsutaka Hirota.

This is not Edens Zero’s first video game adaptation. Konami developed the mobile game Edens Zero Pocket Galaxy, which launched in 2022. However, the company announced it would be ending service earlier this year.

In other Konami news, the developer and publisher announced the release date for Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection, a nostalgic package of retro games based on the card game. Currently, there are eight games confirmed for the collection, with more to be revealed at a later date. The game will ship for Nintendo Switch and PC on February 27, 2024.

Crytek and Fun World have announced some new spooky content for Hunt: Showdown 1896 just in time for Halloween. The Ghost Face Rampage DLC brings the iconic mask to the game along with two new weapons, and a new tool.

The Hunt: Showdown 1896 Ghost Face Rampage DLC includes the Ghost Face Hunter, the Hush (Frontier 73C Silencer) and Whisper (Bornheim No. 3 Silencer) weapons, and Life Taker (knife) tool. All of the weapons are silent, perfect for players who want to get up close and personal.

The Ghost Face Rampage DLC launches for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 24. It will cost players $9.99.

As Hunt: Showdown 1896 takes place in the 1890s, the iconic Ghost Face masks from the Scream franchise get a bit of a makeover. The game’s lead art director Stefan Heinrich gave some insight on the redesign.

“The character design was interesting to work on as it had to fit into the gritty, dark corners of the 1890s setting that Hunt is famous for,” says Heinrich. “For example, the iconic mask is now a hand-carved wooded mask, weathered and cracked, a tattered, battle-worn duster replaces the robe, and to complete the look, leather holsters and gear have been added, giving him the tools of a 19th century Hunter while maintaining his iconic style. We hope Ghost Face® & Hunt fans enjoy the new DLC as much as we enjoyed designing it.”

It is the perfect time grab the Ghost Face Rampage DLC as Hunt: Showdown 1896 is running a limited Halloween themed event called Harvest of Ghosts. Between now and November 25, 2024, players can check out the new mechanics, and Pacts the event has to offer. This includes a new game mode called Bounty Clash, and a slew of new equipment.
