Set in 1961, A Complete Unknown is the story of Dylan’s ascension from a young musician in New York City to an iconic singer-songwriter, culminating with his controversial performance with electric instruments that changed the music forever.

Besides Chalamet, A Complete Unknown stars Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz and Scoot McNairy.

James Mangold directs A Complete Unknown from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jay Cocks. Searchlight Pictures will release the biopic in theaters on December 25, 2024.

The first reactions for A Complete Unknown have hit social media following a screening in Los Angeles on November 20.

Critic Scott Menzel called Chalamet’s turn as Dylan the “performance of the year” and a “true tour-de-force.” Menzel also praised the “great supporting performances” from Barbaro and Norton.

Variety’s Clayton Davis said Chalamet “slides into Bob Dylan with an effortless yet focused determination.” Davis mentioned that Barbaro and Fanning are the ones who “anchor the story.”

The Playlist’s Gregory Ellwood wrote, “Not a fan of folk music and A Complete Unknown is superb and shockingly moving. Timothee is fantastic. Monica Barbaro is incredible. We need a Joan Baez spin off movie.”

Entertainment journalist Scott Mantz said Chalamet is “terrific” in the film, backed by Mangold’s “superb” direction. “Great music & great performances by Elle Fanning and Monica Barbaro,” wrote Mantz.

Producer Hal Schwartz said, “Was incredibly fortunate to see #ACompleteUnknown tonight at Fox. We were the very first audience to see the film. Fantastic response. I absolutely loved everything about it. The performances, the look, and obviously the music. It is a must see for any music fan.”

The Artful Dodger Season 2 has been greenlit at Disney+ and Hulu.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster will return as Jack Dawkins, the titular character. Also reprising their roles for Season 2 are David Thewlis as Norbert Fagin and Maia Mitchell as Lady Belle Fox.

What to expect in The Artful Dodger Season 2?

The Artful Dodger Season 2 will be “picking up where the heart’s desires of Dodger, Fagin, and Lady Belle left off, promising more cunning thievery, snappy humor, life-and-death surgeries, and romance with a twist.” Filming for Season 2 will begin in 2025 at Callan Park in Sydney.

“The return of our Australian-born Disney+ Original scripted drama, complete with all-star cast and a brilliant crew, is a testament to the series’ high calibre of production and its local and international audience success,” said Kylie Watson-Wheeler, Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand Senior Vice President and Managing Director, in a statement. “We’re delighted this high-stakes romantic drama of heists, comedy, and beautifully complicated life and love, will thrill and entertain again.” 

The Artful Dodger is the sequel to Charles Dickens’ novel Oliver Twist. The series was created by James McNamara, David Maher, and David Taylor. McNamara, an executive producer on the series, will write Season 2 with Kate Mulvany, Dan Knight, and Miranda Tapsell. Directors include Ben Young and Gracie Otto, with consulting from Jeffrey Walker.

Disney+ and Hulu will co-produce Season 2 with Sony Pictures Television’s Curio Pictures.

“Set in 1850s Australia, in the lively colony of Port Victory, Jack Dawkins is The Artful Dodger, whose fast, pickpocketing fingers have turned into the skilled hands of a surgeon,” reads the Season 1 synopsis. “Dodger’s past returns to haunt him with the arrival of Fagin, luring him back into a world of crime. A greater threat – to Dodger’s heart – is Lady Belle, the Governor’s daughter, determined to become the colony’s first female surgeon. From heists to life-and-death surgeries, to the harsh realities of the criminal world mingling with the middle ground and gentry.”

The Artful Dodger Season 1 premiered in November 2023. It aired on Disney+ in Australia and on Hulu in the United States.

Wild Hogs 2 is back in development. According to Jeff Sneider of The InSneider newsletter, a sequel to 2007’s Wild Hogs is in the works at Disney, and Wild Hogs stars Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, and William H. Macy are slated to return.

It is unknown if Wild Hogs director Walt Becker will return to direct the sequel.

What to expect in Wild Hogs 2?

Plot details remain under wraps at this time. It remains to be seen whether Wild Hogs 2 will receive a theatrical release or a streaming-only premiere on Disney+.

This isn’t the first time a Wild Hogs sequel has been in development. Wild Hogs 2: Bachelor Ride was scheduled to come out in 2010. However, the sequel was canceled in 2009 after the failure of Old Dogs, Becker’s comedy starring Travolta and Robin Williams.

Wild Hogs official synopsis reads: “Tired of their humdrum lives, some middle-aged friends (Allen, Travolta, Lawrence, and Macy) decide to temporarily ditch their responsibilities and take a motorcycle trip. The freedom of the open road holds many surprises for the group, including an encounter with the Del Fuegos, a hardcore gang, who take a dim view of the novice bikers.”

Wild Hogs’ cast featured Allen as Dr. Doug Madsen, Travolta as Woody Stevens, Lawrence as Bobby Davis, Macy as Dudley Frank, Marisa Tomei as Maggie, Jill Hennessy as Kelly Madsen, and Ray Liotta as Jack Blade.

Wild Hogs was directed by Becker on a script by Brad Copeland. Producers included Mike Tollin, Todd Lieberman, and current co-CEO of Paramount Global Brian Robbins.

Released in March 2007, Wild Hogs was a financial hit, grossing over $253 million on a $60 million budget. However, critics panned the biker comedy. Wild Hogs owns a 14% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 27 on Metacritic.

To play Valya Harkonnen in Dune: Prophecy, Emily Watson sought inspiration from Alec Guinness and his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars.

How did Star Wars inspire Emily Watson in Dune: Prophecy?

In an interview with Variety, Watson explained how she leaned on her theatrical roots with the Royal Shakespeare Company to deliver Valya’s dialogue and militaristic commands. This classically trained approach reminded her of Guinness, a legendary stage actor, and his line deliveries in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

“He made that dialogue sound like Shakespeare, and because he did that, it allowed him to have this understated, quiet, commanding presence,” Watson said about Guinness. “That’s how I found my way into this, because if you don’t take on the lines with a kind of meticulousness, they can be very elusive.”

In Dune: Prophecy, Watson and Olivia Williams play Valya and Tula Harkonnen, sisters who will find the group that becomes the Bene Gesserit.

HBO’s synopsis reads: “From the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.”

Kaley Cuoco has found her next television project. Per Deadline, Cuoco will star in Kansas City Star, a new half-hour comedy series from Hacks creators Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky. HBO won the rights to Kansas City Star after an extensive bidding war.

Cuoco is currently the star of Peacock’s Based on a True Story, Peacock’s dark comedy series about a true crime podcast, which returns for Season 2 on November 21, 2024. Cuoco also voices the role of Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn on Max’s animated Harley Quinn series, which is coming soon to Max.

Cuoco is best known for starring in Big Bang Theory for 12 seasons. For her role as Penny, Cuoco won Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the 2013 Critics’ Choice Television Awards. After Big Bang Theory, Cuoco headlined Max’s The Flight Attendant for two seasons, earning three Emmy nominations.

What is Kansas City Star with Kaley Cuoco about?

Most of Kansas City Star’s details are under wraps. However, Deadline’s sources describe it as a “comedy with heart starring Cuoco as a semi-famous actress who returns to her hometown to work with a regional theater troupe.

Kansas City Star is expected to get a series order, though details are still being finalized. Warner Bros. Television will be the studio. Cuoco will executive produce through her Yes, Norman banner. Additional executive producers include Aniello, Downs, and Statsky.

The trio of Aniello, Downs, and Statsky are best known for creating the Max’s Hacks. The comedy series stars Jean Smart as an aging stand-up comedian who forms a professional relationship with a young comedy writer named Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder).

Before directing Deadpool & Wolverine, Shawn Levy was once considered to direct the Gambit movie starring Channing Tatum.

What did Shawn Levy say about Channing Tatum’s Gambit Movie?

In the bonus commentary for Deadpool & Wolverine, Levy explained how he was one of the many directors approached to helm Gambit. The movie eventually fell apart, so Levy was happy Tatum finally played the X-Men character in Deadpool & Wolverine.

“Eight, 10 years ago, I was one of probably 40 directors who met with Channing to direct the Gambit movie,” Levy said. “Ultimately, no one got that job and the movie never quite happened. So, to give this moment to Channing and to realize instantly, ‘Oh wow, this guy has been readying for this his whole life’. . . was a crazy magic trick.”

Tatum was originally eyed to play Gambit in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. However, Taylor Kitsch played the card-throwing mutant because of Tatum’s scheduling conflicts.

In 2014, Tatum officially signed on to star in a Gambit movie. Unfortunately for Tatum, the film entered development hell and cycled through multiple directors including Rupert Wyatt, Doug Liman, and Gore Verbinski. The final straw was Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox, with Gambit’s official cancellation in May 2019.

Tatum recalls meeting with Levy multiple times for a Gambit movie. When the director approached him to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, Tatum was in disbelief.

“Shawn I’ve met a couple of times to possibly direct Gambit when I was attached to it at Fox,” Tatum said. “So they called me about this one, and I couldn’t even believe it. I thought they might have been teasing me or joking me.”

Tatum’s appearance as Gambit was one of the most memorable moments in Deadpool & Wolverine. Ryan Reynolds later revealed that Marvel is “obsessed” with Tatum in that role.

“I honestly don’t know what goes on behind closed doors in the bookkeeping sessions at Marvel, but I do know that they’re obsessed with him in that role,” Reynolds said. “It’s kind of like the same situation I went through. Once you show that it works well, that’s really what they need. Sometimes they just need to see it in action.”

Zendaya revealed a surprising update on the status of Euphoria Season 3.

What did Zendaya say about Euphoria Season 3?

Euphoria Season 3 is gearing up to start filming in January 2025. Zendaya, who stars as Rue, confirmed the date in an interview with Vanity Fair. However, the two-time Emmy winner has yet to see a script for the upcoming season. 

“I haven’t read anything yet, but I’m excited to see what everyone has been working on and what the future looks like for Euphoria,” Zendaya told Vanity Fair. “I don’t really have much of an answer except for right now it’s set to start shooting in January.”

If Euphoria Season 3 begins production in January, it will mark three years since the Season 2 premiere. Euphoria Season 3 has experienced several setbacks, including unexpected deaths within the creative team, the Hollywood strikes, and turmoil between creator Sam Levinson and HBO.

Reports that the third season was dead began to surface due to the busy schedules of stars Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney. In response, HBO and Max boss Casey Bloys recently denied those reports and confirmed Euphoria will begin filming in early 2025.

“I think we have a start date, mid to late January. Nothing’s changed,” Bloys said. “Somebody said something online, and then this whole thing started. We are shooting the season. I have read the scripts. We’re happy. We’re moving ahead. All of the actors. Is the show.”

Zendaya’s schedule includes Christopher Nolan’s new movie, which will be shot in early 2025. Still, Zendaya remains committed to Euphoria and doing right by her character for the fans.

“My most important thing is to do justice by the people who love and care about Rue and make sure that she’s looked after as a character,” Zendaya added. “I think that’s my number one duty.”

Based on VideoAmp’s projected viewership numbers, the Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 premiere brought in 16.4 million viewers. That rating is the biggest premiere night ever for the series, an increase of 3% from the Season 5 Part 1 premiere, which registered 15.9 million viewers.

The Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 premiere’s viewership was determined by VideoAmp’s projected Total Persons/Live+SD gross viewership across all cable networks and CBS airings. The premiere aired on Paramount Network, with subsequent airings and simulcasts occurring on CBS, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, Logo, Pop, and TV Land.

What to expect in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2?

The Yellowstone premiere wasted no time addressing the departure of Kevin Costner, who played the family patriarch John Dutton. John is found dead in the bathroom of his home with a pistol by his side. The initial cause of death is suicide via gunshot wounds.

However, it is later revealed that Jamie’s fixer girlfriend, Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri), orchestrated a hit on John. Sarah ordered the assassin to make the murder look like a suicide.

The Happy Gilmore 2 cast is bringing back Ben Stiller for Adam Sandler’s golf sequel. In Happy Gilmore, Stiller played Hal L., the deceitful nursing home attendant who looked after Happy’s grandma.

A newly released set photo revealed Stiller wearing a black vest with a “Hal L.” nametag. Stiller was sporting Hal’s signature handlebar mustache along with yellow sunglasses.

Ridley Scott continues to defy logic with his work ethic. At 86, Scott is about to release Gladiator II, the highly anticipated sequel to his Oscar-winning epic Gladiator. The iconic filmmaker is not slowing down and has no plans to retire just yet. However, Scott did chime in on the Quentin Tarantino rumor that his next film will be his last.

What did Ridley Scott say about Quentin Tarantino and retirement?

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Scott was asked about Tarantino and his retirement plans. Scott does not believe the 61-year-old Pulp Fiction director will stop after his next movie. After the reporter explained how great people get “sucked back in” to their passions after time off, Scott agreed and had a candid response for Tarantino.

“I don’t f***ing believe that bull***t,” Scott said. “Shut up and go make another movie. Quentin wrote a few things for my brother. They got along great. I’m not sure I’ve met him.”

As for Scott, he believes he still has a “few” more films in him. The Blade Runner director cited Clint Eastwood as a point of reference for being able to work despite old age. Eastwood is 92 and just released Juror #2.

Scott’s next film is Gladiator II, one of the most anticipated movies of 2024. Gladiator II stars Paul Mescal as Lucius, the son of Lucilla and former heir to the Roman Empire. After living in Numbia for 15 years, Lucius is captured by the Roman army and forced into slavery. Lucius trains as a gladiator and plots his revenge on Rome in the arena.

In addition to Mescal, Gladiator II stars Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington.

Gladiator II opens in theaters on November 22, 2024.

Moana 2 is one of the last major movies remaining on the 2024 release calendar. Expectations are high for the sequel, with all signs pointing to it becoming a hit. Just how big can Moana 2 get? AMC CEO Adam Aron believes Moana 2’s box office can surpass the record-setting haul of Inside Out 2.

“Some people in the know are telling me that Moana 2 could eclipse and outshine even the success of Inside Out 2,” Aron said on AMC’s Q3 earnings call via Deadline.

What does the Moana 2 box office need to be to pass Inside Out 2?

For Moana 2 to surpass Inside Out 2 at the box office, it must become the biggest hit of 2024. Inside Out 2 opened in June to $155 million domestically and $295 million globally. Initial reports for Moana 2 peg the Disney sequel to gross between $75 million and $82 million domestically over its opening weekend. Adding in its five-day Thanksgiving weekend numbers Moana 2 will easily do over $100 million.

Inside Out 2 parlayed its monstrous opening weekend to a dominant summer at the box office. To date, Inside Out 2 has a worldwide gross of $1.697 billion, making it the highest-grossing animated movie of all time and the biggest film of 2024. Additionally, Inside Out 2’s domestic gross of $652 million is the largest of 2024.

Released in 2016, Moana took home $687 million worldwide. However, the movie’s popularity has skyrocketed since then due to its inclusion on Disney+.

Moana 2 marks the returns of Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson as Moana and Maui. Per Disney’s synopsis, “Moana 2 reunites Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.”

Moana 2 is directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller. Jared Bush and Miller penned the script. Christina Chen and Yvett Merino are producers.

This month, Netflix will release the second and final season of the critically acclaimed animated series set in the League of Legends universe, Arcane. Overall, Arcane will have 18 episodes divided between two seasons. Despite the low total, Arcane is now the most expensive animated TV show.

According to Variety, Riot Games spent approximately $250 million to produce and promote Arcane’s 18 episodes. That is the highest amount of money ever spent on an animated series on streaming or linear TV.

Why is Arcane the most expensive animated TV show ever? 

Per Variety, “The profligate spending and unrealized ambitions are a reflection of the company’s inexperience navigating the intricacies of entertainment production.”

Production on Arcane Season 1 reportedly cost over $80 million, while the upcoming second season’s price is around $100 million. Besides animation, the expensive production was driven primarily by a “labor-intensive approach.” Additionally, Season 2 entered production without scripts for every episode, causing significant delays.

Riot spent an estimated $60 million of its own money to promote Arcane Season 1. Most studios that aren’t distributing a show would not spend that much on promotion. The $60 million is “far above” what Netflix spent.

Riot also has some misfires early on. In 2020, Riot enlisted Anthony and Joe Russo to develop a movie in the League of Legends universe. However, creative differences led Riot to pay the Russo Brothers $5 million to walk away.

Created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, Arcane follows sisters and two League of Legends champions, Jinx (Ella Purnell), a.k.a. Powder, and Vi (Hailee Steinfeld).

“Jinx (Purnell) — also known as Powder — and Vi (Steinfeld) find themselves on rival sides of a brewing war between the utopian city Piltover and its oppressed underbelly Zaun,” reads the official synopsis. “Powder and Vi are completely transformed by the end of the first season, as Powder becomes the mischievous Jinx and Vi proves she’s one champion you don’t want to mess with.”

Arcane Season 2 will stream on Netflix. It will be split into three acts released on November 9, 16, and 23.

Fans of Coben’s prior work will be able to celebrate the new year off right on Netflix and binge the show as soon as the new year rings in. That’s exactly one year after the release of Fool Me Once, Coben’s eighth Netflix series, which was released on January 1, 2024

“Eleven years ago Detective Kat Donovan’s fiancé Josh, the love of her life, disappeared, and she’s never heard from him since,” the official Netflix synopsis reads. “Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face, and her world explodes all over again. Josh’s reappearance will force her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past.”

Missing You stars Rosalind Eleazar as Detective Kat Donovan, Richard Armitage as Ellis Stagger, Jessica Plummer as Stacey Embalo, and Lenny Henry as Clint Donovan. The remaining cast includes Steve Pemberton as Titus, Paul Kaye as Monte Leburne, Samantha Spiro as Nurse Sally Steiner, Lisa Faulkner as Dana Fells, Mary Malone as Aqua, Ashley Walters as Buchanan, Alice Offley as Tamsin Salter, James Nesbitt as Calligan, Matt Willis as Daryl, and Felix Garcia Guyer as Reynaldo.

Produced by Quay Street Productions, Missing You is written by Victoria Asare-Archer and directed by Sean Spencer. Coben is an executive producer through his company, Final Twist Productions. Additional executive producers include Daniel Brocklehurst, Richard Fee, and Nicola Shindler. Guy Hescott is listed as a producer.

Missing You is based on Coben’s 2014 novel of the same name. While the novel is set in the United States, the series will take place in the UK. Missing You is Coben’s ninth Netflix series. It will try to emulate the success of Fool Me Once, which became a smash hit and is the eighth most-watched English-language Netflix TV show of all time.

Ryan Reynolds is getting the band back together. After the success of Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy plan to work together on a new non-Marvel movie.

What did Ryan Reynolds say about his new non-Marvel movie?

While appearing on Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast, Reynolds discussed his plans for the future. Reynolds will spend the next year writing a non-Marvel movie that will team him up again with Jackman and Levy.

“I’m spending the year writing,” Reynolds said during the podcast. “I’m writing a movie for myself, Hugh [Jackman] and Shawn [Levy] to do that is not Marvel.”

Plot details on Reynolds’ new movie remain under wraps. It’s also unknown if the film has been greenlit. Given the box office haul of Deadpool & Wolverine, the probability of a studio funding Reynolds’ project is high.

This past summer, Reynolds and Jackman starred in their first MCU movie, Deadpool & Wolverine. Directed by Levy, Deadpool & Wolverine saw Reynolds and Jackman reprise their iconic roles of Wade Wilson/Deadpool and Logan/Wolverine, respectively. The superhero movie quickly became a smash hit, and the film’s $1.33 billion worldwide haul is the second-highest earning of 2024.

Reynolds and Levy continue to churn out popular hits. Deadpool & Wolverine marked their third collaboration as a tandem. In 2021, Reynolds and Levy joined forces for Free Guy, an action comedy that became a surprise hit for 20th Century Studios. A sequel is in development.

Reynolds and Levy worked together for the second time on 2022’s The Adam Project, a sci-fi adventure for Netflix. The Adam Project is the third most popular English-language movie on Netflix.

It’s unknown if Reynolds or Jackman will work together on anything before this new movie. There are rumors that the duo could serve as hosts for the 2025 Oscars.

Josh Gad is currently working on Spaceballs 2 in a galaxy very, very, very, very, far away. Gad is one of the co-writers of the Spaceballs sequel. In an interview with Forbes, Gad not only revealed that his Spaceballs 2 draft has been completed but also that it’s already receiving high praise.

“Without MGM taking me into their Culver prison cells, I can tell you that the draft is done,” Gad said. “Everybody who’s read it has been blown away. The process of working on this with and alongside Mel Brooks has been one of the highlights of my career.”

Gad continued: “It was sort of a fever dream that this all happened. Mel has been so unbelievably supportive, involved, and electrified by this because it’s the one that surprisingly got away. It’s a dream to be able to finally make the reality prophesied by Yogurt in the first movie happen. I can’t say more than that. I can’t tell you anything beyond [the] process at this point, but I can tell you every hour of every day right now is spent making this project closer and closer to reality — and I think we’re nearing the end zone here.”

Who is involved with Josh Gad in Spaceballs 2?

Announced in July 2024, Spaceballs 2 stems from Amazon MGM Studios. Gad will star in, write, and produce the Spaceballs sequel. Gad’s co-writers include Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez, the writing duo on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Pokemon Detective Pikachu. Josh Greenbaum (Strays) will direct the sequel.

Mel Brooks, the writer and director of Spaceballs, will produce the sequel, while Kevin Salter will executive produce.

Released in 1987, Spaceballs is a sci-fi parody of popular franchises, including Star Wars, Alien, Star Trek, and Planet of the Apes. It starred Brooks, Bill Pullman, John Candy, Rick Moranis, Daphne Zuniga, and Joan Rivers.

In a rare move from Netflix, Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia might receive an IMAX theatrical release.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix and IMAX are in early talks to put Gerwig’s Narnia movie in theaters. The rumored plan is to release Narnia in IMAX over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2026 before it streams on Netflix over Christmas. Since Thanksgiving is huge for business, a limited-release window for IMAX screens could be a point of contention for theater owners.

The news of an IMAX release for Gerwig’s Narnia first came from Puck’s Matt Belloni, who tweeted, “Interesting: Greta Gerwig is talking to IMAX about putting her NARNIA movie on 2000 screens, potentially before it hits Netflix. Huge if this happens.”

Gerwig has reportedly been pushing for a theatrical release and ultimately spoke directly to Imax CEO Rich Gelfond. During IMAX’s earnings call on Wednesday, Gelfond neither confirmed nor denied the reports of his conversations with Gerwig and Netflix.

Typically, Netflix releases prestige movies and selects original films in a few theaters to make them eligible for awards. Gerwig’s proposal is similar to 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which received a one-week limited theatrical release over the Thanksgiving holiday. Glass Onion grossed $15 million before hitting Netflix in late December.

What is Greta Gerwig’s Narnia movie about?

In 2018, Netflix acquired the rights to C.S. Lewis’ Narnia books, with plans to develop films and TV shows. In July 2023, Gerwig confirmed her involvement in The Chronicles of Narnia. The four-time Oscar nominee is reportedly writing and directing two Narnia movies at Netflix.

The Chronicles of Narnia marks Gerwig’s first directorial project since Barbie. The Margot Robbie-led movie became the highest-grossing film of 2023 and received eight Oscar nominations.

No casting news has been made official. However, Louis Partridge is believed to have a role in the film.

The Chronicles of Narnia was previously adapted into three feature films in 2005, 2008, and 2010.

John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan have found their next project. The duo will star in The Players, a new Shakespeare comedy movie inspired by the rivalry between Edwin Forrest and William MacCready.

Reilly and Coogan previously collaborated on 2018’s Stan & Ollie. The comedic biopic explored the comedic acts of Stanley “Stan” Laurel (Coogan) and Oliver “Ollie” Hardy (Reilly) during the 1950s. Coogan was nominated for a BAFTA, while Reilly received a Golden Globe nod.

Reilly is best known for his comedic work in Step Brothers and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. For his role in Chicago, he received a supporting actor nomination at the Oscars. His notable recent work includes playing Jerry Buss in the TV show Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.

Coogan is an English comedian best known for creating the fictional media personality Alan Partridge. Coogan received Oscar nominations in Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay for Philomena. Recently, Coogan appeared in Joker: Folie à Deux as TV personality Paddy Meyers.

Who is involved in The Players?

Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty) will direct The Players from a script written by Jeff Pope (Stan & Ollie). Production is set to begin in early 2025 in Europe.

Armie Hammer has begun his acting comeback. According to Deadline, Hammer has been cast in a “key role” in Frontier Crucible, a Western from director Travis Mills. This marks Hammer’s first acting role in nearly three years following sexual assault allegations.

In 2021, several women accused Hammer of sexual assault. The accusations against Hammer included rape, cannibalism, and BDSM-related kinks. In 2023, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office declined to pursue criminal charges against Hammer due to insufficient evidence.

Despite the lack of criminal charges, Hammer was dropped by his talent agency, lost his publicist, and abandoned several acting projects. Hammer’s last role came in 2022’s Death on the Nile. The Kenneth Branagh project significantly reduced Hammer’s appearance in the trailers and marketing in the lead-up to the release.

Who is involved with Armie Hammer in Frontier Crucible?

Besides Hammer, Frontier Crucible stars Thomas Jane, Myles Clohessy, Eli Brown, Eddie Spears, Zane Holtz, Jonah Kagen, and Mary Stickley.

The official synopsis via Deadline reads: “Pitched as Reservoir Dogs meets Bone Tomahawk, and set in the Arizona Territory of the 1870s, the film will follow a former soldier (Clohessy) with a tragic past who is thrown into an uneasy alliance with three outlaws (led by Jane), a beautiful woman (Stickley), and her wounded husband (Brown), in an attempt to survive the elements and hostiles of the western frontier.”

Mills (The Pendragon Cycle) directs Frontier Crucible based on Harry Whittington’s 1961 novel Desert Stake-Out. David Guglielmo and Lillian Campbell will produce. Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk will executive produce for Bonfire Legend. Additional executive producers include Jane, Courtney Lauren Penn, Sefton Fincham, and Preston Poulter.

The independently financed movie begins filming next month in Monument Valley and Prescott, Arizona.

Even though Silo Season 2 comes out in November, creator Graham Yost already has an ending in mind for the hit Apple TV+ series. While the number of seasons is still up for debate, Yost says his team will stick to the source material in Hugh Howey’s trilogy of novels. In Yost’s words, he won’t “drag it on too long.”

“The books are a trilogy. This is not Outlander,” Yost told GamesRadar. “This is not a long science fiction series. It’s a trilogy. We’re not going to extend it beyond that.”

Silo Season 1 only covers about half of Howey’s first novel in the series. Though Yost promises the show will not overstay its welcome, he cares more about delivering in “logical time” than putting a specific number on when it will wrap up.

“That doesn’t mean it’s going to be three seasons, but it’s not going to be 10,” Yost added. “It is our goal to answer questions and not frustrate the audience, but deliver things in a logical time so that when our characters find something out, that’s when the audience finds out.”

Who is involved in Silo?

Silo stars Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Robbins, Common, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, Alexandria Riley, Shane McRae, Remmie Milner, Clare Perkins, Billy Postlethwaite, Rick Gomez, Caitlin Zoz, Tanya Moodie and Iain Glen. Steve Zahn joins the cast for Season 2.

When Jon M. Chu signed on to direct Wicked, he originally wanted to find two “no-namers” to play the lead roles of Elphaba and Glinda. Chu believed the iconic story and music would be enough to sell the movie.

“I wanted to have a very clear slate coming into Wicked,” Chu told SFX Magazine via Gamesradar. “It’s a big enough property on its own, so we can discover two people. I was like, ‘We’re gonna find no-namers.'”

However, Chu’s mindset started to change during the audition process. Chu realized casting talented actresses to sing these songs and capture the characters’ emotions was extremely important. It was about finding the right people, even if they weren’t unknown actresses.

“Then we got calls from all these great actresses who wanted to audition, and we saw everybody, and they were all really great. Anyone could have done this role, except there were two people who were meant to do this role for this particular movie at this particular time,” Chu said. “What we found out when we were auditioning everyone was that the songs are so important in this movie and so emotionally important to this movie that the person who’s doing it has to get into song and out of song so easily that it’s like butter, like you don’t even notice it. That means having good chops in their skill set.”

Who is involved in Wicked?

In the end, Chu cast Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba Thropp and Ariana Grande as Ariana Grande as Galinda Upland. Wicked begins with Elphaba and Galinda as two students at Shiz University who eventually become friends. Their encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz causes a schism in their relationship, as they eventually set out on paths to become Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Wicked’s ensemble includes Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, and Peter Dinklage.

Chu directs Wicked on a script by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. Wicked is an adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical by Holzman and Stephen Schwartz. Producers include Marc Platt and David Stone.

Wicked opens in theaters on November 22, 2024. This is the first part in a two-movie adaptation of Wicked. Part Two will be released on November 21, 2025.
